Sociometric Feedback: Bringing Social Signals to Telepresence
نویسنده
چکیده
We propose using Sociometric badges to automatically measure social signals in distributed collaboration. Often distributed collaboration is more difficult than co-located collaboration as many of the social signals are lost. Sociometric badges can help distributed group members to have a better understanding of the members that are not co-present. We share examples of social signal visualizations in both shortterm and long-term collaboration settings. We believe that automatic measurement of social signals can help distributed group collaboration by enhancing the telepresence of team members.

Another look at 'being there' experiences in digital media: Exploring connections of telepresence with mental imagery
Substantial multidisciplinary research has established foundational support for the consumer behaviour phenomenon that underlies the experience of telepresence within online social networks and other digital media products that provide hedonistic value. A review of major perspectives in this field provides justification of the important role mental imagery processes play in the phenomenon of te...
متن کامل"I'm Always Touched by Your Presence, Dear": Combining Mediated Social Touch with Morphologically Correct Visual Feedback
Combining mediated social touch (interpersonal touch over a distance) with visual feedback allows people to both see and feel their interaction partner’s touches. Combining touch with vision is expected to increase the transparency of the interface, as well as the user’s sense of telepresence. We anticipated these positive effects of visual feedback to depend on the morphological congruence of ...
متن کاملTelepresence and Attention: Secondary Task Reaction Time and Media Form
Attention to media has been widely studied. Often when studying attention, researchers have not distinguished to what the participants are attending – media form or media content of the presentation. This is also true of many studies on telepresence where the interaction of media form and content has been found to influence the sub-dimensions of telepresence reported by participants. However, s...
متن کاملTowards a Methodology for Longitudinal Evaluation of Social Robotic Telepresence for Elderly
This paper describes a methodology for performing longitudinal evaluations when a social robotic telepresence system is deployed in realistic environments. This work is the core of an Ambient Assisted Living Project called ExCITE, Enabling Social Interaction Through Telepresence. The ExCITE project is geared towards an elderly audience and has as aim to increase social interaction among elderly...
متن کاملAssessing Mobile Robotic Telepresence Based On Measures of Social Telepresence
The feedbacks obtained regarding the sense of presence from pilot users operating a Mobile Robotic presence (MRP) system to visit a simulated museum are reported in this paper. The aim is to investigate how much the perception of system’s usefulness and ease of use is affected by operators’ sense of social telepresence (presence) in the remote location. Therefore, scenarios of visiting a museum...
